Lesson Three - 4th Years Empty Lesson Three - 4th Years

Post by Guest Tue Jan 31, 2012 4:45 pm

Mitchell walked into the Healing Arts classroom and looked around, he noticed that it still hadn't been cleaned properly yet, Mitchell then let out a sigh then shrugged his shoulders. He then walked over behind his desk and sat down

As he was waiting for his 4th years to arrive, he wondered how his twin Trent was going, last he heard he to was moving over to Russia to possibly teach

"Good day Professor," Frodo greeted with a smile as he entered the class. He was looking forward to today's lesson and he hoped it would be as good as the previous one.

Sweeping into the classroom Ciar almost wrinkled her nose in disdain. A classroom to learn healing in that wasn't even properly sanitized? She made a mental note to have the house elves ensure that it was clean and sanitized daily. She for one was not going to get an infection from the uncleanliness.

Never once faltering in her stride she strode towards her desk with a flourish. With a nod towards the professor she took her seat, placing her knapsack just under the desk. "Good day to you, sir," the Irish teen said in way of greeting as she sat back to await the start of class. With a nod to the other boy she pulled out her wand and began to methodically polish it with her cleaning cloth.

Ren was not a morning person so therefore he did not like having to get up early. Even though he was used to that routine did not mean that he had to like it. The teen disliked mornings as well as the cold. Those two combined made him a bit grumpy and a bit more venomous and anti-social than he already was. Coming into a classroom that was supposed to be for healing and would more or less result in the opposite didn't help his mood.

Not bothering to greet the professor as it the classroom was his responsibility therefore his fault, Ren stood at a desk beside Ciar. Taking out his own wand he did a quick cleansing charm to make sure his seat and desk wouldn't give him anything unsavory, and sat down. Nodding at the girl he then plonked his head on the desk shutting his eyes. He'd trust her to let him know when the class was actually starting. Knowing her it'd probably be something like jabbing him with her wand, but at them moment he didn't care.

Sheba walked into the classroom and paused. She raised an eyebrow at the state of the room. They were going to be learning healing in a dirty room? She hoped they weren't going to be using anything live. It would guarantee an infection in this state. She shrugged a shoulder and continued in. Her eyes lit up at the sight of Whelan and she hummed a small song to herself. The boy from her poisons class was sitting next to the girl and she wondered briefly if the two knew each other. She stopped at the desk behind Whelan's and pulled out her wand, giving it a quick clean before she sat down. She relaxed in her seat and propped a foot on the edge of Whelan's chair as she waited for the lesson to start.

Ksenia walked calmly into the healing classroom. She looked around, noticing the many new students in the class. This should be more interesting then last time, she thought to herself as she took a seat, ready for the lesson to begin. Her repression was as cold as always. She did not say anything to the new students, she never did.

Mitchell looked up as the students entered the classroom, he looked down at his class list realizing everybody was here, then got up from his seat and walked around to the front of his desk and leaned against it

" Welcome all, for those who don't know me im Professor Ollivander" Mitchell said as his eyes skimmed around the room, " Now todays lesson we will be learning to remove bones, so can anybody tell me in which situtation we might need to do this?" Mitchell asked looking at the class

"I think we need to remove bones in case a fracture failed to heal or to replace an infected bone...?" Frodo replied, merely guessing and feeling unsure.

Ciar quirked her eyebrow as she jabbed Ren in the ribs with her wand. Removing bones that could be an interesting tool to use in a duel. She was aware of the foot on her edge of her chair and pretended to be oblivious to it. Damn that beautiful girl and how crazy she made Ciar.

Resuming the polishing of her wand she nonchalantly commented, "It might be useful to remove a bone if it is so badly damaged that it cannot be repaired by magical means. Such as if part of it shattered or such like." Looking over her polishing job Ciar tried to push the image of an opponent falling before her with their bones missing. "Such a removal would need to be regrown by Skelegrow afterward or else the area the bone had been in would be utterly useless." Everything had to have a use in Ciar's mind or else there was no purpose in it's existance.

Jerking as he was jabbed with the wand and letting out a his, Ren opened his eyes with a scowl. How was it he had known the vindictive girl would jab him in the ribs? Letting one hand rub the sore spot while he sat up, the teen suppressed the urge to moan in boredom. He'd heard what the professor said as well as the others in the room so he thought of something else that hadn't been said yet. Maybe it was because he'd known the Irish girl too long or maybe because he could be vindictive if he wanted, that he thought of such things.

"There's also the fact that if you're in a duel and your opponent has cast a curse or hex on you that infects the bone or causes it to enlarge. Your best chance to keep from getting more severely injured is to remove the bone."

Sheba listened to the other's answers and was about to let it go, since it seemed like everything had pretty much been said already. The Mitani boy's answer, though, made her remember something from her childhood. She and her mother had been caught alone in an alleyway when they were attacked. Her mother had removed the bones in one of their attacker's legs, allowing them to run to safety.

She sat up in her seat, her foot falling from the back of Ciar's chair as she said, "You could also use it against your opponent in a duel. Remove one of their bones in order to gain an advantage over them."

Mitchell jumped up with excitment that his students were so knowledgable, he then picked up a piece of chalk and began writing their answers on the board

" Yes thats right Mr Moria, removing infected bones would be a perfect use for this spell" Mitchell then wrote Infected bones on the board, Mitchell then heard another student answer he then nodded in agreeance and wrote her answer on the board, " Absoulutely Miss Whelan, if they are shattered beyond repair"

Another student stated that it could be used in a duel an oppent hexed you, " Excellent Mr Mitani, now thats thinking outside the box" Mitchell then pursed his lips as a girl suggested you could use it as an offensive spell in a duel, Mitchell didn't approve of violence in the first place and hated when healing charms were used as attacking spells

" Um... Well Miss Wolf while that is an option I certainly do NOT endorse using the charm in that manner" Mitchell then reached behind his desk and pulled out a plate with a chicken carcass, and placed it on his desk he then looked back up at his students

" Now today we are going to be removing a rib bone from this chicken carcass. So to cast the spell you must hold your wand out like this and move your wrist in a circular motion and saying the incantation, Ossio Dispersimus" Mitchell then aimed his wand at the rib cage of the carcass aiming for the 3rd rib " Reducto" the 3rd rib instantly cracked with multiple fractures

Mitchell then looked around the class " Ok so who wants to go first?" he asked

A student volunteered to be first, " Excellent Mr Moria come up here then" when the boy was at the front of the classroom, Mitchell then gave him a small grin

" Ok so you must make sure you have a good aim, because we don't want to remove the wrong bone. This can be a bit tricky but just concentrate and be sure to say the incantation clearly" Mitchell then took a step back and watched the boy attempt the spell

Frodo nodded his head in understanding and took out his wand. He pointed it at the broken 3rd rib and made sure his hold on the wand was not shaky. He moved his wrist in a circular motion and said the incantation, "Ossio Dispersimus." He wondered if he did it right but either way, he was glad that he didn't feel nervous like he did for the previous lesson.

Mitchell watched the boy perform the spell, he it work perfectly he was quite impressed "Outstanding Mr Moria, you have quite a good aim there" Mitchell then glanced around at the rest of the class

" Ok guys so you can see, its not just getting the incantation right its also having a keen eye, so who's next?" Mitchell asked his class encouragingly

Ciar rolled her eyes. He was asking them to perform the spell without the bone being broken. Was this a joke? The dolt of a guy who had volunteered to go first had already removed the broken bone. Well she'd just have to fix that now wouldn't she.

Raising gracefully to her feet the Irish teen glided to the front of the class, her wand held with perfect steadiness in her hand. Reaching the table she picked up the chicken with disdain and smacked it against the corner of the table quite hard. With a sickening crunch Ciar smirked as she confirmed with a couple of prods of her wand that the 3rd and 4th rib on the right side and the 4th rib on the left side were severely broken. That was enough for her and the other two. Placing the chicken back on the plate she couldn't help but smirk at her handiwork.

Stepping back from the table a couple steps she pointed the black wood at the right fourth rib with deadly accuracy. Imagining the chicken to be an adversary she had to fight Ciar snarled, "Ossio Dispersimus," as she circled her wrist in the correct wand movement. A jet of light shot from her wand and hit the rib dead on. The area seemed to glow momentarily before fading. Narrowing her grey eyes the teen stepped up to the table and prodded the carcass with the tip of her wand. She smirked when she found the rib she had aimed for missing. Cleaning the tip of her wand with her rag she turned and sauntered back to her desk, kicking up in her chair, smug as could be.

Mitchell watched as a girl from the class, walked up without acknowledging him and forcefully broke the the rib bone, Mitchell flinched a little at the brute force of this girl, Mitchell was never one for violence or being rough he had more more of a caring nature

Mitchell watched the girl as she performed the spell, she successfully casted the spell, Mitchell looked at her with a confused expression, he couldn't work out why this girl would take a class such as Healing when she didn't seem very compassionate at all

" Um... thank you Miss Whelan that was.... good" Mitchell said in broken speech as he was still overwhelmed by the girls mannerisms, Mitchell then glanced around the classroom trying to work out who was left to practice the spell " Ah right so who hasn't had a turn yet?" Mitchell asked

Ren watched the Irish girl and had to suppress a sigh although the professor's expression was well worth Ciar's theatrics. Still, he couldn't let it be known that he was amused and instead leaned over towards his friend whispering, "Show off."

Sliding from his desk, the teen walked towards the now mangled chicken and looked down at it was a bit of distaste. He poked it with his wand not wanting to really touch it but knew he had to to figure out which bone he was going to pull. Resigning himself to that he felt the chicken and could only guess they were practicing on this because the bones were so bloody small. Glancing briefly with irritation at Ciar then back to the carcass and thought, 'And thanks to her they're even smaller now.'

Doing what the others had done with the wrist movement he concentrated imagining the bone dissolving and vanishing like things did when you poured acid on them. "Ossio Dispersimus."

Prodding the chicken again he nodded and went to the sink to wash his hand and wand before returning to his desk. Propping his chin on his hand, he let his eyes wander.

Sheba waited and watched as the others took their turns. Her lips twitched in amusement at Whelan when she took her turn. The professor’s reaction was just as amusing and she had to resist the urge to laugh. Her earlier assumption was very correct, it seemed. Class with Ciar Whelan certainly would be entertaining. Her eyes narrowed as the Mitani boy leaned in close to the other girl and whispered something to her. Sheba felt a flash of jealously and it surprised her greatly. Whelan wasn’t hers, yet, so she had no reason to be getting jealous. It was true that she had no idea what kind of relationship Whelan and Mitani had, but she doubted greatly that it was anything romantic. She didn’t think Whelan was the type of girl to flirt with another if she were in a relationship.

With a mental shrug, she sighed inaudibly and stood up. With a blank look on her face, she silently made her way towards the front, her wand loosely gripped in her right hand. As she sauntered past Whelan, she let her fingers trail over the other girl’s arm lightly. The smirk that threatened to cross her face was quickly squashed down and she stopped in front of the desk, looking passively down at the mangled hunk that was supposed to be a chicken. Its skin was torn and collapsed in several places from where the bones had been removed. Gripping the wand more securely in her hand, she waved her wand the way the teacher indicated and repeated the incantation, “Ossio Dispersimus.”

She prodded the chicken lightly with her wand and was slightly surprised to discover that the bone was still there. It only slightly surprised her since she hadn’t really had much experience with healing spells. She knew only minor ones that fixed shallow wounds and the like. Anything else, her father usually handled, or her mother when she wasn’t busy. An irritated look flashed through her eyes and she gripped her wand even more. She focused and drowned out everyone else in the room as she trained her wand on the chicken and quickly went through the motions as she all but hissed, “Ossio Dispersimus!”

A sense of triumph went through her as she prodded the chicken and felt the area where the bone had been cave in under her wand. She looked up at the teacher for a moment, her face still very blank, before turning around and walking back to her desk. Her eyes met Whelan’s and her lips curled up into a slight smile before she passed by her and sat down at her desk. It wasn’t the best she had ever done, but she was satisfied for the moment.
